5th November 2025 – (Hong Kong) Hong Kong actor Francis Ng found himself at the centre of an amusing public transport misunderstanding recently, when a bus driver questioned his use of a concessionary travel card. The 63-year-old film veteran recounted the incident on social media, explaining that his youthful appearance led to suspicions he was misusing another person’s travel pass.
The actor revealed that upon boarding the bus and using his JoyYou Card, the driver expressed immediate doubt regarding his eligibility for the senior fare. The card is mandatory for Hong Kong residents aged 60 to 64 to access the government’s HK$2 concessionary public transport fare scheme. Ng humourously noted he was nearly asked to disembark, quipping that he had to present his identity document to verify his age.
To substantiate his story, the award-winning actor shared several candid photographs taken aboard the bus. The images depicted him dressed casually in a white top and black fisherman’s hat, standing unobtrusively among other passengers who appeared unaware of the celebrity in their midst.
The social media post quickly garnered significant attention, with the topic trending on Weibo as users expressed both amusement and astonishment. Many commentators marvelled at the actor’s remarkably well-preserved appearance, with one fan jestingly questioning why no fellow passenger had offered him a seat. Ng’s witty retort, “Haven’t you injured me enough already?” further delighted
