5th November 2025 – (Hong Kong) Concerns have been raised for the well-being of veteran Hong Kong screenwriter and actor Kam Kwok-Leung, following reports he has been hospitalised. The 75-year-old multi-talented figure is understood to have been receiving medical treatment, with sources suggesting a diagnosis related to dementia.

His friend, fellow entertainer Louie Castro, acknowledged to media that he was aware Kam had been in poor health recently, but did not elaborate on the specific nature of the illness. Kam’s career has left a significant imprint on the Hong Kong cultural landscape, spanning television, film, radio, writing, and fashion since the 1970s.

Audiences were recently reminded of his acting prowess with his appearance in the film “Sons of the Neon Night.” In a role with substantial screen time amongst the ensemble cast, he played a character navigating between the criminal underworld and the police, with many viewers praising his performance.

The artist’s personal life once became a focal point of widespread public attention. During the 1980s, he was in a decade-long relationship with actress Carol Cheng, which began after they co-starred in “Paper Marriage.” Their separation in 1990 unfolded dramatically in the press, with both parties making controversial public statements about the intimate details of their relationship, creating a media sensation at the time.
