29th October 2025 – (Vancouver) Theresa Lee, the 1994 Miss Hong Kong third prize winner, has established a new professional path as a psychiatric nurse while residing in Canada with her family. The 55-year-old former actress, who now works in mental healthcare, recently participated in the Vancouver International Film Festival and discussed her current life during an interview.
Lee confirmed she considers nursing her lifelong vocation, stating she has no plans for retirement from the profession. She maintains a flexible work schedule that allows her to balance professional commitments with personal time. The former television personality expressed deep satisfaction with her career choice, emphasising the importance of contributing meaningfully to society beyond financial considerations.
Her 21-year-old son, Tate, has pursued athletic excellence as a professional biathlete combining skiing and archery. He currently ranks within the top twelve competitors for his age group in Canada, with ambitions to secure a position among the nation’s top four athletes to compete in the Olympic Games. Lee and her husband provide supportive encouragement while maintaining appropriate distance to avoid creating excessive pressure for their son.
The former actress revealed her longstanding interest in psychology motivated her career transition. Having experienced depression during her entertainment career, she now brings personal understanding to her professional role. Lee noted the prevalence of mental health conditions, observing that approximately one in five individuals encounters such challenges ranging from mild depression to more complex psychiatric conditions.
Though now settled in Canada, Lee maintains affectionate connections to her birthplace, describing Hong Kong as remaining fundamentally her home. Her personal journey through nine months of depression, during which she contemplated suicide, ultimately led her to pursue nursing education in 2013. She specialised in pediatric psychiatric care, finding purpose in supporting young people through emotional difficulties.
