16th December 2025 – (Hong Kong) Hong Kong will welcome its first official The Gundam Base flagship on 20th December, as BANDAI NAMCO ASIA unveils a nearly 4,500-square-foot destination at The Twins, Kai Tak. The store promises model kit retail, exclusive merchandise, immersive exhibitions and interactive building zones, positioning itself as a new hub for the city’s Gundam community.
A centrepiece created specifically for Hong Kong will debut at the opening: a world-exclusive 1:2 scale bust of the main hero mobile suit from Mobile Fighter G Gundam. Rising to around eight metres including its base, the installation evokes signature visual effects from the anime and is expected to become a prime photo spot. A 1.8‑metre RX‑78‑2 Gundam in The Gundam Base colours will also be on display.
To manage capacity during the initial period, entry will be controlled via a pre‑registration ballot until further notice. Reservations will be handled on a first‑come, first‑served basis through The Twins Rewards mobile application, with each member able to book one one‑hour slot per day.
Inside, themed dioramas will merge Hong Kong’s cityscape with scenes from the Gundam universe, while a retrospective display traces protagonist mobile suits across the Mobile Suit Gundam franchise from 1979 to the present, highlighting the design and engineering that shaped the saga. A factory‑themed interactive zone will recreate Bandai’s production atmosphere, featuring raw plastic pellets and assembly‑line elements, with regular model‑building workshops led by instructors; registration details will be announced via THE GUNDAM BASE HONG KONG channels.
More than 100 model kits and collectibles will be available at launch, including The Gundam Base exclusives. Highlights include three limited editions from the POP‑UP WORLD TOUR: RG 1/144 RX‑78‑2 Gundam Ver.2.0 (The Gundam Base Limited Colour), MG 1/100 Wing Gundam Zero EW Ver.Ka (Recycled Colour / Neon Pink) and MG 1/100 Gundam Astray Red Frame (Recycled Colour / Neon Pink). Additional ranges will cover card games, premium figures, apparel and plush items.
