19th December 2025 – (Taipei) Taiwanese singer Chiang Chih-feng, 57, sparked concern after posting “Yama refused to take me” on Facebook, prompting a surge of messages from fans wishing him well. He later said his condition had stabilised and that he was recuperating at home. His sister, veteran singer Linda Long Qian-yu, reassured supporters by commenting, “He’s fine, thank you for your concern.”
Chiang had appeared with his mother at Long’s “Men’s Feelings, Women’s Hearts” tour press conference on 16th December. Two days later, his health deteriorated suddenly. Writing on social media, he said he had been “lying down for dozens of hours; Yama refused to take me,” indicating a serious episode.
Given his medical history, Chiang explained that he likely suffered food poisoning after drinking alcohol and returning home to eat indiscriminately. “I was sent to hospital. I was unconscious and remember nothing,” he said. He underwent an emergency gastric lavage and remained in hospital for more than 20 hours. After pulling through, he noted he could only drink water and had no recollection of how he got to or left the hospital.
Chiang has long struggled with gastro-oesophageal reflux. Six years ago he experienced significant discomfort and difficulty controlling his voice while singing. Three years ago, during a health check, he underwent a painless gastroscopy and awoke with severe stomach pain. Doctors identified an oesophageal abnormality and performed an urgent biopsy, which revealed stage 0 oesophageal cancer. He received immediate treatment. In an interview in February this year, he said a follow‑up biopsy last year indicated he was close to full recovery, and that he had since cut back on social engagements.
