4th November 2025 – (Taipei) Kuala Lumpur police have reclassified the death of Taiwanese influencer Iris Hsieh, who was found deceased on 22 October in a Malaysian five‑star hotel, as a murder investigation, intensifying scrutiny on Malaysian singer‑rapper Namewee, already entangled in the case and facing separate drug allegations.

Fresh claims have surfaced from Taiwanese personalities who say they were approached by the artist under the guise of collaboration. Influencer MIGA recounted via social media that a supposed business overture in mid‑September quickly raised concerns. She described being pressed to meet one‑to‑one to “discuss cooperation,” offered an “overseas interview opportunity,” told accommodation would be arranged, and asked about preferred restaurants and drinking habits. She concluded the exchanges felt less like professional engagement and more like boundary testing, and declined. Days before news of Hsieh’s death broke, she said the approaches persisted; after the story emerged, she spoke of shock, fear, anger and sorrow, deciding to go public with her account.

Separate attention focused on adult film performer Princess Dolly, who wrote earlier that she had been invited to Malaysia in March and persuaded to “try those things,” believing it was a secret shared only between them. She alleged the pattern extended to other women, reflecting that she had been misled by flattering assurances and declarations of special affection. Her remarks, though not naming anyone directly, have been widely interpreted online as alluding to Namewee.

The case has captivated audiences in Taiwan and Malaysia since Hsieh—dubbed the “nursing goddess” by followers—was discovered unresponsive in a bathtub. Namewee was present at the hotel that day and was subsequently arrested on drug‑related grounds after officers seized nine blue tablets suspected to be ecstasy, weighing 5.12 grams. Police said initial urine screening returned positive results for multiple substances. He has denied drug use and disputed aspects of the emergency response, while maintaining that he attempted resuscitation and called for help upon finding Hsieh unconscious.
