22nd November 2025 – (Hong Kong) Hong Kong veteran actor Simon Yam, 70, remains a fixture on the scene, balancing film work with painting and exhibitions, and keeping fit with golf. Age appears no barrier to his energy or health. On Saturday (22nd November), Yam attended a fashion event in Central where he appeared to slip on a slick carpet and fell, but was fortunately unhurt.

Witnesses said his wife, model Qi Qi, was posing by a backdrop when Yam moved to stand beside her and lost his footing. Bracing himself with his left hand, he rolled and sprang back up, striking a pose to regain composure in a display of agility. Actress Pat Ha and Qi Qi moved to help and retrieve his glasses, though Yam quickly steadied himself. Photos captured the actor looking unfazed and dapper, drawing comparisons to a Marvel-style action recovery. He then calmly greeted Ha, leaving onlookers remarking that his nimbleness belies his age.

Speaking to media afterwards, Yam insisted he was fine, playfully framing the mishap as a perfect “performance” for fashion, which he said brings imagination and joy. Joking further, he quipped about his fondness for carpets and the warmth they convey, praising the venue’s blue carpet as harbour-blue and beautiful. He added that had he twisted anything he would not have been able to walk, and admitted the incident startled his wife, laughing that it was a “special” way to do so.
