4th November 2025 – (Kuala Lumpur) Malaysian authorities have confirmed that a murder investigation is under way into the death of Taiwanese influencer Iris Hsieh, following the completion of an autopsy at a hospital in Kuala Lumpur. Police are awaiting the full post‑mortem and toxicology results to determine the precise cause of death.

Hsieh, who died suddenly at a hotel in Malaysia on 22nd October, was initially the subject of an inquiry classified as a sudden death. An early report cited cardiac arrest; however, her family disputed this, stating she had been in good health. Subsequent preliminary enquiries led investigators to suspect her body may have been deliberately moved to a bathroom, prompting a shift in the case’s classification.

Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Datuk Fadil Marsus confirmed on 4th November that the case is now being pursued as a suspected homicide. The remains are being stored in the hospital mortuary pending the final forensic findings.

Local media reported that, once released, the body will be taken to a crematorium, after which the ashes are expected to be repatriated to Taiwan by family members, who are preparing to travel to Malaysia. Meanwhile, Malaysian singer Namewee was present at the scene and was arrested on suspicion of drug possession and misuse. He was subsequently released on a RM$8,000 bail. Authorities have not yet linked these allegations to the cause of Hsieh’s death, and investigations are continuing.
