2nd November 2025 – (Taipei) Taiwanese influencer Iris Hsieh, 31, died suddenly in Malaysia, where she was discovered unresponsive in a hotel bathtub. Local reports say Malaysian artist Namewee, who was present, was arrested on suspicion of drug possession, with initial urine screening indicating positive results for amphetamine, methamphetamine, ketamine and THC. Police have confirmed his involvement in the case while the exact cause of death remains under examination.

In a strongly worded statement posted on today, Hsieh’s agent, Chris, accused Namewee’s public claims of being entirely at odds with information released by Malaysian police. Chris said the family was initially told Hsieh had suffered a cardiac arrest in an apparent accident, but that official disclosures later presented a markedly different version of events, contradicting both earlier accounts and Namewee’s remarks.

Chris insisted Hsieh had never been known to use narcotics and urged a full accounting from Namewee, pressing him to explain the source of the suspected drugs allegedly found at the scene and to address whether any details had been concealed. The agent pledged to pursue truth and justice through cooperation with private investigators, legal advisers and Malaysian authorities until the facts are clarified.

Earlier, Namewee maintained he neither used nor carried drugs, adding that formal findings would take several months to conclude. His management said he is fully cooperating with the judicial process and appealed for patience pending final police reports.
