Singer Gin Lee‘s (李幸倪) latest Cantonese single Anything, Anytime, Anywhere <隨時隨地>, drops a timely reference to soulmates who are “not yet at the level of lovers”, but maintain a relationship with the unrestrained freedom of “reuniting anytime, breaking off anytime”.
Non-committal Nature of Modern Romance
The song delves into the dynamics of a relationship where two individuals don’t have to commit to each other, yet always holds a special spot in the heart for the other party. Describing it as akin “girl’s talk” with the song’s composer and lyricist, Vicky Fung (馮穎琪) and Tang Siu Hau (鄧小巧), she says the song hits at the very heart of the soul; and had to “scream a few times” on returning home as emotional release after the song’s recording.
Asked if she’s ever had such a relationship herself, Gin called on everyone to give the song a listen for the answer. Professing her love for the song, she added that its lyrics contain many instances of the word “everytime” to express how it is up to the two people in the relationship to decide if they want to be “allies or competitors”, and to “let go or hold on”; and that, without the traditional confines of romance, there is an added sense of easiness and chemistry.
Sharing a blood-stained photo earlier on her socials, the Malaysian singer caused many fans to panic and ask her if everything is okay. She explained, “I was a little shocked when I saw the blood but not afraid after getting treated at the doctor’s!” As she had sustained quite a few injuries during her time as an athlete, and has to wear high heels often, in addition to sustaining dance and work-related injuries, her old ailments would act up when things get too exhausting.
Just hospitalized in May due to spinal issues, she has to undergo weekly rehabilitation now, but told everyone not to worry as she has regular check-ups and spine maintenance. Despite these, the singer keeps up her professional attitude doing what she loves best, working on song releases and going on promotional shows regularly to reach out to fans.
