26th October 2025 – (Hong Kong) Emperor Group chairman Albert Yeung and his wife Semon Luk hosted a lavish ruby wedding banquet to celebrate 40 years of marriage, drawing more than 50 artistes from the Emperor stable and a host of political, business and entertainment figures. Over 20 tables were laid at a hotel for the occasion, with a glittering guest list that included Nicholas Tse, Joey Yung, Charlene Choi, Gillian Chung, Hins Cheung, Kenny Kwan, Gin Lee, Simon Yam, Alex Fong, Bobby Au‑yeung, Teresa Mo, Michelle Wai, Carlos Chan with wife Shiga Lin, and Catherine Chau. Meanwhile, new father William Chan was absent due to film commitments.
The couple took to the stage to thank guests for witnessing their four decades together before comedy legend Michael Hui delivered reflections on marriage. Powerhouse vocalists Joey Yung, Hins Cheung and Gin Lee performed classic love songs to toast the pair. Speaking to media, Yeung quipped that he himself was the best gift to his wife, and credited mutual respect as the key to their harmony, praising her easygoing nature and good temper. He had initially planned to host at home, but the guest list grew so long that the celebration was moved to a hotel.
Yeung revealed that William Chan phoned him a week before announcing the birth of his child, adding he was thrilled for the couple and had already arranged a meal with the new parents and baby. He said he has prepared a 10‑ounce pure‑gold medallion worth several hundred thousand Hong Kong dollars as a gift for the newborn. Yeung lauded Emperor’s “family schooling”, joking that from Nicholas Tse and Joey Yung to William Chan, the artistes are well‑behaved, and quipped that William wants the child to sign with Emperor when grown.
Nicholas Tse, currently gearing up for his early‑November Suzhou concert, flew back to Hong Kong especially for the dinner but kept a low profile, slipping in briefly. He said the chairman had travelled to see his Hangzhou and Guangzhou shows and treats him like family, so he made sure to pay his respects in person.
Arriving with Joey Yung, Charlene Choi said she brought two large scented candles for the couple, praising Yeung’s gentlemanly manners, from holding his wife’s hand to pulling out her chair. Asked about her ex William Chan becoming a father, she offered her warm blessings.
Kenny Kwan turned up empty‑handed and confessed he had yet to decide on a gift. When teased about “gifting” a muscle show, he jokingly deferred to senior Nicholas Tse: if the boss asked, “the boys” would go onstage together—he’d only strip if Tse did.
Hins Cheung squeezed in two engagements, attending the banquet before performing at a Halloween music carnival on the Wan Chai harbourfront. He mingled with fans offstage to rapturous screams, laughing that the noise was deafening. Addressing debate over emcee Akina Fong repeatedly calling him “Master Hin” at a recent event, he clarified there was no anger and no hard feelings, saying apologies were unnecessary and fans could keep using the nickname.
Best actress Michelle Wai and Catherine Chau arrived separately but coincidentally chose similar presents—glassware and heartfelt cards. Wai said Yeung often shares lessons on relationships and life that she finds invaluable, adding that capability breeds allure regardless of gender. The pair even considered performing: Chau fancied a mime, while Wai contemplated a short skit recreating the couple’s romantic first meeting.
Couple Carlos Chan and Shiga Lin, and Sammy Sum with girlfriend Ashley Chen, were among those displaying affection on the night. Sum, asked about sustaining his seven‑year relationship, said he once chatted in depth with Mrs Yeung on a flight and learned to appreciate a partner’s interests. He joked that Chairman Yeung excels at keeping romance alive and that he himself has improved. Chen noted playful progress too, saying Sum now couches comments more kindly. On marriage plans, Sum said he preferred to keep things low‑key and deflected further questions.
Gillian Chung turned heads in a deep‑V gown and gifted a crystal decanter. She revealed she has largely quit drinking after a health check for hand tremors showed her liver needed care, though she might sip a little at social events. Congratulated about William Chan’s baby news, she said it was expected for their age group but added she herself had passed the age for having children. She is not currently dating and feels no family pressure to marry.
