29th October 2025 – (Palo Alto) Elon Musk has introduced Grokipedia, an artificial intelligence-driven online encyclopedia positioned as an alternative to Wikipedia. The xAI founder announced the platform’s launch through his social media channel X on Tuesday, describing it as a resource dedicated to “the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.”
The newly unveiled platform operates without human authors, instead relying on Musk’s Grok artificial intelligence system to generate and verify content. Musk emphasised that the encyclopedia would evolve alongside improvements to the underlying AI technology, with critical thinking principles embedded into its framework.
This initiative follows Musk’s repeated public criticisms of Wikipedia, which he has characterised as influenced by ideological bias. His previous statements have encouraged users to redirect financial support away from the established encyclopedia until what he termed “balance” could be restored.
Grokipedia has been released as a fully open-source platform, allowing unrestricted public access and use. Since its debut, Musk has utilized his social media presence to distribute instructional guides for navigating the website and submitting corrections.
Initial examination of the platform’s content indicates alignment with conservative political perspectives. The entry covering the January 6th Capitol incident, for instance, references “widespread claims of voting irregularities” while characterizing the event as subject to competing interpretations.
Some journalists have already questioned the accuracy of certain entries, including one suggesting pornography exacerbated the AIDS epidemic. The platform’s development follows Musk’s recent temporary involvement in the Trump administration’s efficiency department, during which he implemented substantial budget reductions.
