30th October 2025 – (Hong Kong) The Dr Sun Yat-sen Museum in Central will reopen to the public on 7th November following the completion of extensive maintenance and renovation works. Located within the historic Kom Tong Hall at 7 Castle Road, Mid-Levels, the museum will launch a special exhibition titled “From Healing Patients to Saving a Nation – Dr. Sun Yat-sen in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao” to mark its return.

The Kom Tong Hall, originally constructed in 1914 as the private residence of businessman Ho Kom-tong, represents an important architectural landmark. Its exterior features verandahs with Greek-style granite columns, while the interior preserves numerous original elements including a French-style “White Hall,” stained-glass windows, and a teak staircase. The building achieved declared monument status in 2010.

Established as a museum in 2006, the institution provides comprehensive displays documenting Dr Sun Yat-sen’s life and the historical context of Hong Kong during his era. The enhanced permanent exhibition galleries will complement the special exhibition, which will remain on display until 31st March 2026. Admission to the museum and all exhibitions continues to be free of charge.

Visitors can explore the architectural features of the preserved building alongside the historical narratives. The museum’s stained-glass windows, verandah glazed wall tiles, and other period details remain in excellent condition. Further information regarding opening hours and current exhibitions can be obtained by visiting the museum’s official website or contacting the institution directly at 2367 6373.
