Recognized as “My favorite TVB actor – Greater Bay Area” for his performance in Mission Run <廉政狙擊>, actor Bosco Wong (黃宗澤) once again received a warm reception for his latest work Prism Breaker <執法者們>, impressing viewers with his action and mixed martial arts (MMA) fighting scenes.
Laidback Approach to Dating
One of showbiz’s coveted “diamond bachelors”, the 44-year-old enjoys a fulfilling career but has a highly scrutinized love life. The “pro-single” Bosco’s revealed that his mother had chased away many of his girlfriends in the past due to her protective nature. “I feel very unrestrained now, I don’t need any kids (offspring)!”
With Prism Breaker being heavy on action scenes, Bosco had ample chances to showcase his solid training in martial arts, especially in a scene where he delivered a fatal front leg blow to his opponent, where he completed the entire sequence in a continuous take. Sharing that he is now “a lot more cautious” during filming than in the past, he said, “I will always think carefully through the various poses and angles before filming, but it’s hard to avoid small scratches and bruises…I really enjoy fighting scenes, of course it’s tiring, as it’s always over thirty degrees in Hong Kong, having to do fighting scenes at dilapidated schools, by the mountains and islands, luckily the visuals turn out well, so I’m really delighted and also enjoy the filming process,”
Prism Breaker marks his eighth collaboration with actress Jacky Cai (蔡潔), but only the first time the two are coupling up onscreen — as husband and wife no less! “This time Jacky and I are star-crossed lovers, viewers call us “Bo-(蔡) Cai CP” and think we’re pretty compatible! I do hope our romantic scenes can touch viewers as I seldom play such a piteous character,” Turning down the idea of them becoming a real-life couple, Bosco revealed that Jacky and him used to intentionally avoid contact to prevent gossip, but are now such close friends that they often eat out together, or have Jacky come over to his place for meals. “After chatting and interacting with each other, I learnt more about her thinking, (a relationship) is just impossible,” Bosco surmised.
Respecting Mom But Also His Own Space
Besides his previous widely publicized seven-year romance with Myolie Wu (胡杏兒), he was also known to have dated model Vanessa Yeung (楊崢) for a fleeting period. Enjoying the freedom of bachelorhood, Bosco says, “I dont need to have kids, or leave anything to my son, nor take care of him or help him choose a school or take him to school…I can film or travel as I please,” Giving his take on his mom having “chased away” his girlfriends, Bosco said, “You’ve no reason to ask her why she chases people away? She has her own thinking, maybe she feels the girl is not good enough, has ulterior motives, is after money…so now I let nature take its course, but I still have my usual socializing, just like me and Jacky, we’ve known each other for years, but nothing’s ever happened,”
Known to be filial, Bosco now stays not with, but beside his mom to avoid mutual conflicts, as mother and son have vastly different lifestyle habits – him being a neat freak whereas his mom likes placing her stuff all over. His mom would also travel independently and does not interfere in his career matters, though Bosco would always go over to her place for homecooked meals, even though “it’s not always tasty”, as he knows she spent a lot of effort preparing the food for him!
