7th November 2025 – (Hong Kong) Veteran Hong Kong actor Benz Hui died on 28th October 2025 at the age of 76. Renowned for a prolific television and film career, Hui was also celebrated off‑screen as a devoted husband and father.
In recent years, Hui embraced social media, collaborating with his daughter on YouTube to entertain fans and frequently sharing reflections on life on Xiaohongshu. A short video posted to his Xiaohongshu account on 10th October — weeks before his passing — has since been viewed as a final message to his online community. The clip struck a deep chord, drawing more than 100,000 likes and over 20,000 comments from mourners.
The video, likely recorded in advance, captured Hui offering sober advice about time, discipline and personal agency. He noted that while life is rarely fair, time is the one universal equaliser. He urged viewers to read more, exercise, curb spending and cultivate goals and interests, arguing that life does not improve on its own. Hard work, he said, is not about accumulating more, but about creating the freedom to choose; when good fortune arrives, diligent effort allows one to feel deserving.
