13th December 2025 – (Hong Kong) Hong Kong singer‑actor Alex Fong has revealed that his wife, Maple Yip, has given birth to their daughter ahead of her due date, with both mother and baby in good health. The 45‑year‑old shared the news on social media on the 12th, posting family photos and thanking medical staff.
Fong said the couple had expected the birth to take place on the day of his post, but their daughter, named Isla, arrived a few days early. He expressed gratitude to the team at Gleneagles Hospital, praising the care provided by staff in Ward 3A and the delivery suite.
The actor, who publicly confirmed his relationship with Yip — 14 years his junior — in 2023, announced without prior notice on Valentine’s Day this year that the pair had wed in the United States. He later shared on Father’s Day that they were expecting their first child. Fong also disclosed that he cut the umbilical cord himself.
Clearly elated to be a first‑time father, Fong remarked that Isla’s features seemed to change daily, joking that she alternately resembled him and her mother. He added that their plans for a larger family had evolved: after initially talking about four children, Yip scaled back to two during pregnancy due to the strain, but following the supportive birth experience now feels three may be possible. Fong quipped that he would “negotiate for a fourth a little later,” suggesting the couple could revisit the idea in a year or two.
