Joey Yung (容祖兒) attended an event in high spirits, thanks to the high view count of her new song’s “But You Want Sweet” <但你要甜> music video. Her company, Emperor Group, was rumored to be in financial trouble, reportedly owing $16.6 billion Hong Kong dollars to banks.
However, Joey expressed full confidence in the company, “The economy in Hong Kong is indeed not doing well. Many large groups are facing similar news. This company has been a part of my growth journey and I’m full of confidence in its future. I believe they can overcome every crisis and this time is no exception.”
Joey also mentioned that Albert Yeung (楊受成), the Chairman of Emperor Group, had personally reassured her, “The boss spoke to me privately. He said it’s actually not a big problem and will be properly handled. Mr. Yeung is truly a great boss; he will take the time to explain things to every artiste. In fact, none of us have been worried. Our team has always been focused on our work. We’re actually just a small department, mainly dealing with entertainment.”
When asked how the company plans to face the challenges, Joey replied that it boils down to working hard. She added that there was no need for her to push aggressively for financial success. It was more important to stay focused on her music.
