Ali Lee (李佳芯) and Lai Lok Yi (黎諾懿) are currently in Malaysia filming for Astro drama The Exiled <義和>. In a refreshing departure from her usual roles, Ali plays a gangster matriarch. She was spotted on set wearing a leather jacket, exuding a powerful presence. Her stylish appearance came at a cost, as she was sweating profusely in the sweltering heat. Other netizens also caught glimpses of her walking down the streets in black shorts, showing off her long legs and ethereal appearance with her flowing hair.
Ali ended her 12-year contract with TVB last year. This is her first drama since leaving the station and she is clearly putting her heart into it. Ali shared her excitement about taking on such a new and unexpected role, “It’s my first time playing this kind of character and I’m really looking forward to it.” When asked if she is adjusting well to filming abroad, Ali replied, “We’ve just started. The script is still being tweaked. I’m still adapting.” As for her bold leather outfit, Ali admitted it is tough in the heat, “The costume department has high expectations for this role. I have to adapt to wearing leather jackets and leather pants. Since I sweat so much every day, I can eat a lot!”
Ali is reuniting with Lai Lok Yi for this drama. Their last major collaboration was in Who Wants a Baby?
Lai Lok Yi will play a gang leader which will be a major challenge, especially with fight scenes and gun battles. He started working out in April and has lost over 10 pounds. Given the hot Malaysian weather, he joked that by the time he returns to Hong Kong in two months, people may think he just finished military training because he will be tanned and skinny.
