Since filming for her new drama Radiant City <璀璨之城> has been delayed, Kelly Cheung (張曦雯) flew back to Chicago to visit her family. She has been sharing photos and videos on Instagram over several days, documenting her food, fun, and sightseeing, using the time to relax and recharge.
Kelly rarely appears with her younger brother, who is a doctor, but the two were recently seen together. Kelly’s brother picked her up from the airport, and the siblings who have a close relationship went together to a BLACKPINK concert in the area. Kelly, dressed in a cropped tank top with an oversized denim jacket, looked like a trendy, youthful girl. Caught up in the concert’s atmosphere, the siblings stood up and danced together, having an absolute blast. With his 6-foot-tall frame, Kelly’s brother was mistaken as her boyfriend.
Later, Kelly showed off a different look, dressing in a smart-casual outfit to attend an art exhibition. She was seen closely observing artworks and captioned in English, “A place where art and I become one (security told me to step back).”
Kelly grew up in the Lower Wong Tai Sin Estate, Hong Kong. Her father worked as a technician and her mother worked at a beauty salon. When she was 10, the family immigrated to the United States. Kelly was an outstanding student and later graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Illinois at Chicago. In 2012, she won the title of Miss Chinese International and returned to Hong Kong to join TVB and begin her acting career.
Kelly once revealed that after immigrating, her parents ran a small jewelry business in the US. However, due to concerns over safety in the area, they have since retired. Kelly has always been a devoted elder sister, working hard to financially support her brother through medical school. Although the financial burden was heavy, she saw it as an investment, “I hope that once he graduates, he’ll take care of us in return.” Her brother did not disappoint–he is now a practicing doctor and recently started a family of his own and his wife is also a specialty doctor.
