Following the conclusion of the coming-of-age South Korean television series, Our Unwritten Seoul, actor Park Jin Young praised co-star Park Bo Young for their strong on-screen chemistry. “From the first script reading, it felt natural,” Jin Young said. “We didn’t need to over-explain anything. We just clicked.”
Park Bo Young took on the challenging task of playing twin sisters, Yoo Mi Ji and Yoo Mi Rae, who have completely different personalities in the drama. Park Bo Young essentially had to portray four characters, as the role had the added difficulty of having Park Bo Young act as Yoo Mi Ji pretending to be Yoo Mi Rae and vice versa.
Park Jin Young, who plays Lee Ho Soo, said he was initially worried about how to act differently toward each version of her character, but Park Bo Young’s performance made things effortless. He said, “She brought so much clarity to each role. I just reacted to her.”
The story revolves around Lee Ho Soo’s connection to Yoo Mi Ji, who comes to Seoul disguised as her sister. Although her identity had logical loopholes, Lee Ho Soo instinctively knows who she is. The actor explained, “Lee Ho Soo has always cared for Yoo Mi Jie. Even if it doesn’t make sense, his heart recognizes her.” The character Lee Ho Soo is also deaf in one ear, but Park Jin Young believes that only added to the character’s depth. “He listens more closely than anyone else. That quiet strength and patience made Lee Ho Soo feel special to me.”
The actor also reflected on the drama’s message. “It reminded me of how easy it is to compare our lives to others on social media,” he said. “Ho Soo looks successful on the outside, but everyone has their struggles. You don’t need to envy someone else’s life.” When going through hard times, the 30-year-old actor says he leans on people he trusts. “Just like Yoo Mi Ji had her family and Lee Ho Soo by her side, we all need someone who’s quietly there for us.”
