21st October 2025 – (Nanchang) China’s virtual reality sector now comprises more than ten thousand enterprises, according to figures released at the concluding session of the 2025 World Conference on VR Industry. The event concluded its proceedings on Monday in Nanchang, the capital of Jiangxi Province.
Xie Shaofeng, Chief Engineer of China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, reported that the domestic VR industry has established a self-sufficient industrial framework. He noted the development of a diversified application ecosystem and a comprehensive industrial ecology, with substantial progress achieved in core technological breakthroughs and standardisation.
The sector’s maturation is further evidenced by its standard-setting activities. Chinese authorities have formulated more than thirty national standards in recent years and spearheaded the creation of approximately ten international standards. These cover pivotal areas including virtual digital humans and VR terminal equipment, providing a structured framework for industry development.
The Nanchang-hosted conference, organised by the Jiangxi provincial government, has now been held six times. The gathering serves as a key platform for tracking the expansion and technological advancement of China’s virtual reality industry, reflecting its growing integration into global digital infrastructure.
