24th December 2025 – (Las Vegas) Barry Manilow has postponed his January arena concerts following an update on his health. The 82-year-old entertainer revealed on social media that he has been diagnosed with an early-stage lung cancer and will undergo surgery in late December, with doctors recommending around a month of recovery thereafter.
Manilow explained that after enduring six weeks of bronchitis followed by a further five-week relapse, his doctor advised an MRI despite his return to the stage at Westgate Las Vegas. The scan detected a cancerous lesion in his left lung requiring removal. He credited “pure luck and a great doctor” for the early detection, adding that no chemotherapy or radiotherapy is planned at this stage. “The doctors do not believe it has spread, and I’m taking tests to confirm their diagnosis,” he wrote, quipping that his recuperation would involve “chicken soup and I Love Lucy reruns.”
The diagnosis marks the second time Manilow has faced cancer, coming five years after successful treatment for throat cancer in 2020. Following that earlier illness, he returned to sold-out performances, supported by multidisciplinary care and voice therapy.
The singer has rescheduled the affected dates from February through April 2026 and apologised to fans for the disruption. “I’m very sorry that you have to change your plans,” he said, noting that he and his team had been looking forward to the January shows. He also wished supporters a happy holiday season and urged anyone with even mild symptoms to seek medical advice.
